Flower Power Magazine was created out of a love of Rochester, NY. The people, the places, the activity. In our humble opinion…Rochester is the SH!T.
And while there are several magazines in the area devoted to the awesomeness of Rochester, Flower Power seeks to draw eyes to the under-promoted. We want to tell you about people and things you haven’t heard about yet. Give some much-needed love and attention to the people that make this city tick, whether they be artists, makers, musicians, writers, business owners or just our neighbors.
The magazine is an act of love…to a city, to its people, to you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Andrea is a Rochester transplant but, in her seven years here, has grown to love the city more than anywhere she’s ever lived. She is a writer and artist, selling her services and works locally and online. She’s always had an affinity for magazines and at one point thought she’d go into magazine publishing. She lives in Rochester with her cat and dog — living the dream.
Marley is a Rochester local with a strong love for art, writing, and all things nerdy (honestly, all of which are staples in this city). She comes to Flower Power with a background in creative writing, editing, and digital marketing. She's eager to connect with people and events that make her community (and her life) richer.
Gianluca is a journalist and public relations professional who moved to Rochester in Summer 2021 and quickly fell in love with the Finger Lakes Region. He's excited to tell Rochester stories through the eyes of a newcomer. Gianluca is a proud North Jerseyan who spent years in both his home state and in Phoenix, Arizona, working as a local news reporter, photojournalist, audio producer and social media wiz.
Matt has called the Rochester area home for 31 years and now lives outside the city with his husband and their fur children. He’s passionate about photography, live music and community building. When Matt isn’t helping to facilitate the Hilton Apple Festival every year or taking headshots for his co-workers, he stays busy by hiking, going to concerts, kayaking and camping.
Yazzie is a Rochester native, who grew up on the west side of the city. A local multimedia artist who enjoys collaborative work and writing about whatever comes to mind. She enjoys being spontaneous, trying new things and chilling at café's.
J.P. is a recent transplant from New York City. His favorite thing about Rochester (besides his sister's shih tzu Rhys) is the sense of support and community that he felt as soon as he moved here. He enjoys anime, learning to cook, and K-pop.
