What drew you to photography as a medium?

I originally found myself drawn to photography because I loved to capture moments. Originally, I wanted to be a photographer for National Geographic, but I realized that being out in the field as a photojournalist wasn’t my thing.

What story do you want to tell as an artist?

I use my work to bring my thoughts, ideas, perspectives, and dreams into a visual space. My goal is to create a fantasy, and people are welcomed to enter it if they choose.

From what or whom do you draw inspiration?

I draw inspiration from all over the place, though I get a lot of inspiration from classical art and surrealism artwork. History, fashion, and Black (African-American) culture also influence my work.

What is your creative process like?

I always start off with an image in my head. I then try to sketch down what I’m thinking of so I don’t forget how it’s supposed to be. During this stage I also figure out the lighting and styling. Once I leave the drawing board, I photograph what I need and then take everything into photoshop. A lot of my work is done in post. Using photoshop allows me to create the worlds and stories I want to bring to life.
